A Nintendo 3DS spin-off of Epic Mickey pays homage to the 16-bit classic games of yore, Disney said on Wednesday.
Disney Epic Mickey: The Power of Illusion is a 2-D side-scrolling game created by DreamRift (Henry Hatsworth, Monster Tale) in association with Epic Mickey creative director Warren Spector and Junction Point. It takes direct inspiration from, and its name is a nod to, Sega Genesis games like Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse. It will be released in fall 2012 alongside the multi-platform console game Disney Epic Mickey: The Power of Two.
I don’t know about you guys, but seeing a 16-bit Scrooge McDuck sprite just makes me want these guys to produce a DuckTales sequel.
