TOKYO — It may not be as cool as the Fami-Card mod, but the Game Porter portable Famicom player, spotted the other day in Akihabara, should make every retro-loving portable gamer happy.
With the way the Nintendo DS is selling (both in terms of hardware and software), it’s obvious that gamers want to game on the go, and this should provide some nice portability to all those old Famicom carts you may have lying around. Yes, you could also equip your DS with an R4 card and load it with a homebrew MAME player, but where’s the fun in that?
The Game Porter sells for 4980 yen (around $50). I feel like getting one just to see what kind of reaction I’d get while playing on the train.
