Today’s Virtual Console lineup is aimed right at Dad. Did you buy him a Wii for Father’s Day? If not, you are a bad child.
If you did, tell him to log on and buy NES Open Tournament Golf and World Sports Competition, because I sure as hell am not going to.
Also on tap this week is Bloody Wolf, a TurboGrafx military action game that hit Japan back in April. Ah, Japan. More on that after the jump.
While I find it interesting that this week’s update is two-thirds comprised of games that haven’t even been announced for a Japanese release as of yet, this is still a really weak lineup when you consider what could have been in here. Here are just some of the games that have been released in Japan and Europe that could have been in today’s update:
F-Zero X
Super Mario Bros. 2 (both versions, no less!)
Adventures of Lolo
Balloon Fight
Kirby’s Dream Course
Air Zonk
Devil’s Crush
I mean, really: when there’s all that content sitting around waiting for its day in the sun, what is the point of having such a nothing update? Maybe there’s some kind of balance system in place that says Japan can’t get its awesome games unless we get bad ones to even it out. Japan gets Paper Mario and Breath of Fire II next Tuesday, so expect our update to consist of Terminator 2 and Swamp Thing.
