I’ve been pretty hard on Nintendo for not taking full advantage of the Long Tail opportunities offered to them with the Virtual Console service. So it probably weakens my argument that Wired’s EIC Chris Anderson (who wrote The Long Tail) thinks they’re doing okay:
Point — but as Anderson himself takes pains to point out in the book, having a huge catalog full of “misses” can be just as lucrative as a small selection of “hits”. Which is what I want to see on Virtual Console. I’m working on an article for the front page about the issues with the Infinite Arcade, and so I’ll continue to follow up on all of this stuff.
