Just in case you don’t have enough games in the illustrious Wonder Boy series taking up memory on your Wii, there’s one more on the way.
Wii has so many Wonder Boy titles already that I wrote a great big guide to all of them nearly a year ago. At the time, I wondered out loud whether the second in the series, Wonder Boy In Monster Land, would ever make it to Virtual Console. They’d need to add the Sega Master System for that to happen, I said.
They did, of course, and so it was largely inevitable that Wonder Boy in Monster Land would end up on Virtual Console. Don’t know when it’ll arrive, but the ESRB has rated it.
Trivia: Wonder Boy in Monster Land has been re-released with licensed comic characters hacked into the game — twice. In Japan, it was released for PC Engine as Bikkuriman World. Perhaps more strangely, it was released in Brazil as Mônica: No Castelo da Dragao.
Trivia, ii: It also apparently formed the basis for the Famicom game Saiyuki World, which got a sequel that was released here as Whomp ‘Em.
Trivia, iii: How the eff many more *Wonder Boy *games do we seriously need?
