I continue my research for a piece on digital delivery in the next generation of game consoles, and so I’m trying to stay on top of all the announcements pertaining to PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Arcade. Here’s what’s going on this week:
- Namco Bandai announce that a port of the arcade game Tekken Dark Resurrection is on its way to the US PlayStation Store later this month. No price or release date.
- The long-awaited, oft-delayed flOw gets an official web site, a trailer, and a release date (February 22). No price.
- Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday is tomorrow, and it’s serving up a frothy cup of Root Beer Tapper for 400 points.
Virtual Console still has it all over XBLA and PlayStation Store in volume — but not features. Not to mention the fact that Sony, in addition to classics and original content, is hitting the middle of the road with downloadable arcade games like Tekken. I doubt that would even fit onto Xbox Live Arcade, even with the newly expanded size limits.
