This week on Virtual Console Theatre (see, it’s the PAL version, that’s why it’s “Theatre”), we’ll be featuring a sampling from the Sega Mega Drive series. First up is an entry from the franchise that’s so hard you pretty much need to start playing it in the womb to be any good at it, Virtua Fighter 2.
If platforming is more your thing, you’ve got options. You can go with *Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle *(a fine choice, certainly a fine choice) or the game that inspired a moment of personal gaming stupidity on my part, Wonder Boy in Monster World. I got >< this close to the end of that game, then spent hours (or what felt like hours) trying unsuccessfully to pull off this one jump, only to get so frustrated that I traded in the game out of sheer spite. Yeah, like I said, stupid.
For those whose preferences lean more towards the Turbografx, you get but one title, *Shockman. *Well, you do if you live in Europe, anyway, and even then it’s only to make up for the fact that you’re not getting Wonder Boy.
